From such cosmic roamings the prophets would return, speaking words of fire with tongues of flesh. Raised by same Pallid Sybils who bred and birthed them, all sanctioned Oracles were anchored by their physical form to the world we most of us share meanwhile, their souls roamed far afield, barely bound by the airiest astral umbilicus. Knowledge of Oracle's skills is key to use him at his full potential while he can defy destiny and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, one mistake can potentially seal the fate of his allies.Īscendants to the Great Seat of Cymurri had for ages imported their Oracles exclusively from the Ivory Incubarium, high in the hollow peaks of the Zealot's Range, with a downpayment made at the time of the embryo's conception and the balance surrendered on delivery of a mature, well-trained prophet to the Gate of the Graven King. His signature ability and ultimate, False Promise, puts an ally's fate on hold, removes every dispellable disable and prevents them from being harmed by the enemy for a short time, and then fully returning them to reality at the end of the spell's duration. Purifying Flames, like Fate's Edict, can be cast on friend or foe, dealing magical damage but also applying a healing buff to them. His Fate's Edict can be cast on allies and enemies alike, disarming them but also granting them complete resistance against magical damage used with skill, he can render his foes' weapons useless or shield his allies from unfriendly spells. He possesses the ability to change his foes' fortunes with Fortune's End, which deals nuke damage and pins down any enemies in its radius, while dispelling buffs from them. Nerif, the Oracle, is a ranged intelligence hero who alters the fate of allies and enemies with his combination of multipurpose nukes and buffs.

I changed the outposts to euro and tried the map again, Knights and swordsmen from the start, it was overwhelming, I will post these 2 maps soon and you can try your luck, I will have to sharpen my war skills. The next map is done and lets say it's a bit harder, I gave my ally an outpost and we went quite a bit farther, but when my ally went down the focus was on me, and then I went down:) If you would like to try this map, send me an email or give me yours and I will send it over, I might see about uploading it to the site. Later in the game the outposts have a lot of troops standing there, more with 2 outposts side by side, and put them in behind 2 castles, the invasions did get heavy but my position saved the day. I then loaded the map and put in 2 Caliphs and allied them, it was good fun on the second try, I had 4000 gold they had 2000, the corners of their castles were touching and the invasions started from the beginning, but with 4000 gold I managed to stay in the game, as it went along I did need to use some of the extras and when it came to finally winning the game I did use the rocks to remove the outposts, I did try earlier, but not even close. I put your supply of iron and stone out front so you will have to fight for it. Last night I made a simple test map in Extreme, 2 keeps and some resources and 1 Arabian outpost behind one keep, then played with a Caliph, it was interesting so I made a map with you in a semi protected spot and 2 keep close together opposite of you and placed 2 outposts in behind the 2 keeps beside each other. OK, now you got me, how did you put an outpost into Crusader, did you mod the game files? I mean, that is just my opinion at this moment, I just always like to make thing harder to me, I find it more fun. Of course, in games like this, there could be only two sides, I believe - it would be pointless to give those outposts to computer players in different team so they could fight each other, and the same applies to giving the outpost to your ally. We could place it somewhere close to that opponent, so it would look like you are fighting against opponent who is having powerful support.Īre you aware of some scenario or skirmish maps having those outposts? What are you experiences with them? I don't like the idea of outposts when I am the one who has the benefits of it, but giving an outpost to our opponent could make the game rally interesting. Well, this way one can make his opponent even way too powerful for his appetites! :D The good thing is also that the computer uses those outposts, and send the army from there to attack you - regardless of whether he normally uses those troops or not. I was just trying out something, and I noticed I am able to build outpost in skirmish maps, so I came to an idea! What I was always trying to do was to make my opponents as strong as possible. Each day you learn something new, but some day you learn something new about a game you taught you knew all bout it. Us old guys gotta have something to do with our spare time if we don't play golf or drink. Then I can use other sims like auto racing, etc. I'm thinking it best to go traditional and get a computer with Microsoft OS and all the necessary bells and whistles. For now I'm bummed out because I was hoping the Aerofly for Mac was the answer and it cost forty bucks to find out it isn't unless I spend more and I refuse to spend any more money with the "hope" it will work on a Mac. and will have more information in a day or two. I'm looking into RealFlight 7.5 after having viewed several videos on. I read somewhere Phoenix is no longer available and the only place to get one is to find a used disk for sale. I have been unable to download any updates offered by Phoenix or new planes and whenever I try it keeps timing out. I have Phoenix on an old HP Presario CQ56 but the processor cannot keep up and the image is jerky and stops. I can't download a manual or other aircraft and must use the keyboard for plane movement. They suck you in with the minimum to make you buy the more expensive programs. Back to Aerofly, the program sucks in the respect it is very, very limited in what they offer in the initial program. I do have Bitware, an anti-virus program and it keeps a lot of the crap ads out. Just installed Aerofly 7 on my MacBook Air w/no problem downloading. I think most people have wised up to them by now but there are always newcomers who fall for them. I haven't seen many of those game downloads much anymore. And when they say, "We'll try not to show you this ad anymore" is a LIE. I hate Google for shoving those ads on every page I visit. I don't click on any ads anymore nor do I click on those "the most costly divorces in Hollywood". That tank game was from the same company. I had to use a backup copy from a previous backup to get rid of it all. They are only free for the first level, then when they've hooked you, they start charging your credit card to continue and the malware that's embedded in those apps will show you just how "free" they really were.Ī couple years ago, I tried to download the free fighter aircraft game onto my PC. Like those stupid roll playing apps for your phone that are supposedly "free". Those "free" online things are not so free afterall. Stick with the known store bought sims like Phoenix, RealFlight. And yet, the ’80s were the decade in which he flourished in a new way, when he discovered a perfect balance between his keen pop sensibility and his restless ear. There’s a way in which, then and today, Gabriel always feels like something of an outsider. They are not akin to the moves his ’70s peers often tried to make to adapt to the ’80s, nor are they of the exact same DNA of the younger generation coming up early in that decade. They exist just to the side of the canon, not always fitting in with exactly one trajectory. (They are, in order: Car, Scratch, Melt, and Security.) Those albums gave us some of Gabriel’s most well-known songs - “Solsbury Hill,” “Games Without Frontiers,” “Shock The Monkey.” But they’re also somewhat underrated in the grand scheme of things, considering the theoretical size of Gabriel’s name. Gabriel’s first four solo outings are all technically self-titled, so they’re often referred to by their numbers or by the one word ciphers that had been applied to them. (Between both of their releases around 1980, Gabriel and Collins explored the use of gated reverb on drums, thus helping define the sound of the ensuing decade.) There he was, having (mostly) ditched the theatrical costumes of his Genesis days, hair hewn short, barking and intoning over forward-thinking arrangements of synths and alien guitars, spearheading forward-thinking production techniques that could make his percussion sound brittle yet booming. Seemingly a creature of the ’70s through and through, Gabriel discovered a new artistic vitality at the dawn of the ’80s. And the album with which Gabriel kicked off his solo career wasn’t exactly a rejection of his ’70s rock stylings.īut what happened after that was when it becomes truly fascinating. At the same time, there was a whole new generation of young punks rising up with, as the narrative of pop history tells us, the fire to burn down excessive dinosaur bands of ’60s and ’70s rock - bands like Genesis, the one Gabriel had just fled. He made his solo debut in 1977, when he was 28 years old and had already been releasing music for almost a decade. But was Peter Gabriel ever cool, exactly? Play later songs from all the parties involved, and you can certainly still hear overlaps: Try “In Your Eyes” alongside Collins’ “ Take Me Home” and Genesis’ “ Invisible Touch.” They all come from ’85/’86, and they sound like they could co-exist on an album from an alternate universe in which Gabriel rejoined Genesis as Collins’ co-frontman.īut perhaps thanks to Collins’ propensity to dive headlong into schmaltz, there often feels as if there’s this perception that Gabriel is the more respectable option, that he abandoned Genesis for a solo career that was artier, brainier, more adventurous than where his old band eventually went. If you play Genesis’ 1981 LP Abacab alongside Gabriel’s third solo LP, from 1980, they exist on a similar spectrum of the time’s futuristic synth-rock, just on different points in that spectrum. Their trajectories aren’t all that divergent in reality. You still have fans who worship the Gabriel years and swear off anything that happened after you have people who only know and love the hits you have people who regard it all as unredeemable cheese and excess of various breeds. Even in an era of no guilty pleasures, of revivals and reappraisals of all that was popular then unhip, Genesis’ legacy is a murky one. His career began, of course, as the frontman of Genesis, but he left years before they became ’80s pop monoliths, then led by Phil Collins, his old bandmate who remained his collaborator outside of Genesis. He’s a few-hit wonder who’s also a beloved legacy artist. His name is well-known, while a lot of his work is not. Along the way, he’s existed as a paradox. After all, it’s hard to even make sense of his arc: This is a guy who went from ’70s prog to an art-rock tinged with ’80s new wave and post-punk to experimental pop auteurism to becoming an elder statesman who goes a decade or more without releasing much in the way of new music. In the history of classic rock, few big names have had a career quite like Peter Gabriel’s. I don't know of a way to record the clicks and pops. I could include a video but the problem is not with the user interface- everything visually is just fine- it is with the audio. In the past even with much larger projects I have had very few underruns once my buffer length was 256 or higher. What is odd is I used the demo version of FL 12.(4?) for a long time- roughly 500 hours over 6 months- just fooling around before buying the Academic Edition the other day. Is it possible that the way I sampled could have caused this? I have snap to zero crossing in Edison enabled. Sometimes it sounds like there is a delay, and sometimes the audio completely turns off for no reason I can tell in the middle of a loop. The clicks don't always play for every MIDI note triggered, but for some patterns, every MIDI note has a loud click in it. The fans got much louder and FL studio's internal CPU meter dropped dramatically but I am still getting lots of clicks. I also wondered if it had to do with my laptop's power saving settings, so I reset my performance plan to default. Even if I use my laptop driver's maximum buffer length which translates to a latency of 186ms, I still get loud clicks.Īt first I thought the problem was with my interface but as I have the same problem while using my laptop speakers in FL Studio, I don't think it could be. Whether I am using my laptop speakers, my audio interface's Focusrite USB ASIO driver, or FL Studio ASIO, I am getting the same loud clicks. FL Studio "Settings -> Audio" reports that I have zero underruns. However, in my current project, which consists of simply a few loops and timestretching with zero effects and CPU usage peaks at around 70% (which shouldn't be high enough for underruns), I have buffer size at 1024. I typically have the buffer size on 256 or 512 if I am using a lot of effects. FL Studio 12.3 Settings in FL: Focusrite USB ASIO driver (same result with ASIO4ALL v2(.12 that came with FL, and 2.13)) Sample rate: 44. I have a Scarlett Focusrite Solo audio interface and the driver I normally use is Focusrite USB ASIO. I am getting loud clicks regardless of my audio driver / buffer size. After playing morally and saving hostages and arresting mercenaries, I was presented with this scenario. I couldn’t believe them, and that’s the mind-set I had when I confronted Jonah. Toward the end of the game after killing hundreds of mercenaries and seeing my ride out of Shanghai destroyed, I didn’t trust any of these characters who I stumbled upon. The way these choices are presented doesn’t really uplift your faith in humanity rather, it fosters an exhausted cynicism. We don’t know if that woman who is about to be assaulted is actually a spy who plans to killing a baby. We don’t know if that tiger will stay in its cage or if it will leave and end up devouring an armed robber. The thread running through them is that we never know the people we help. They could stop an ally from forcing himself on a woman or they could stop him. It turns out that no move is the right move, and the game is filled with these moments as the mercenary duo land in one strange misadventure after another. Leave the guard alone and you’ll see that the man was actually a murderer who took the guise of a guard, gave up the weapons for money and ditched the building. The game flash-forwards and you see a fatherless son, picking up a gun presumably to take revenge. Taking the weapons leads that Rios and Salem to unintentionally kill the guy. It seems as if there’s a good and bad to this equation, but there isn’t. I had a choice: I could either put the weapons back and leave the guy alone or I could take the weapons and knock the guy unconscious. When raiding a weapons locker at an African country’s embassy, a rent-a-cop confronted me. In The 40th Day, I assume I was supposed to make these hard decisions. When I played the “No Russian” level in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, I had to replay it after massacring civilians. I feel dirty for acting evil even if it is in a virtual world. When I play these morality games, I always trend toward the good side. He is corrupted by power, but his hypothesis could ring true depending on how you played Rios or Salem during your journey. (This guy is one step away from being the governor of California.) He destroyed Shanghai to prove a point: that people turned to beasts and are immoral during times of desperation. Jonah, the man behind The 40th Day mercenary group, was a military man turned actor turned politician. After finishing the game, I got a fuzzy outline. The only background comes in cursory radio transmissions that I had to collect. All throughout the game, I was too busy in gunfights to actual wonder why this is happening. The only problem is that there’s an army of mercenaries trolling the streets and shooting anything that moves. Rios and Salem have a part in it, and all they want to do is get the hell out of Dodge. Explosions rip through one of the major cities in the Far East. The 40th Day began so innocently as a modern-day survival story. After finishing the game and making my choice, I watched the ending wondered what the hell just happened? The problem is finding it in a convoluted plot that meanders before coming to an abrupt and bizarre stop during the finale. If you look beyond the fancy explosions and large-scale destruction tearing through Shanghai, Army of Two: The 40th Day has something to say about morality. Here are some quick side bar that couldn’t make it in my review of Army of Two: The 40th Day. Various leading antiviruses have been used to test FL Studio, if it contains any viruses.
